MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Sporting News recently revealed its Preseason Top 25 Quarterbacks for 2021 and West Virginia’s Jarret Doege made the list at No. 23, two spots ahead of UCLA’s Dorian Thompson-Robinson and one spot ahead of Auburn’s Bo Nix.
Doege finished last year’s abbreviated season ranked 16th in passing yardage (2,587) and 23rd in yards per game (258.7) while leading the Mountaineers to a 6-4 record, which included 24-21 come-from-behind victory over Army in the Liberty Bowl.
It was just West Virginia’s second bowl triumph since joining the Big 12 Conference in 2012.
The Lubbock, Texas, resident was fourth in the Big 12 with 14 touchdown passes and his 2,587 passing yards were the 10th-best single season performance in school history.

Doege had a 307-yard passing effort during his first season with the Mountaineers in 2019 after transferring from Bowling Green.
He enters his senior season ranked 16th in school history with 3,405 career passing yards. He is 14th with 318 completions and 21st with 21 touchdown passes.
